Too much testing
As a teacher, I feel there is too much time dedicated to testing. It is frustrating when I am expected to engage students, encourage individuality, and help each student, while at the same time teaching them how to use all the tools necessary to take a test that puts them in a box.
I would like to see more spots available in the Friday classes because they fill up quickly.
Parent Partnership programs
I have a concern about the current space North Star School occupies. The quarters are cramped and the staff has to put everything away at the end of the day on Wednesdays and set everything back up on Mondays before school starts. What other school has to deal with this hardship?
Gym space in the partnership programs
We have two partnership programs in the Mead School District and neither one has a gym or adequate classroom space. Five Mile Prairie has been in operation for 12 years in the same building and the student population has gone from 130 students to over 300 with no gym and no additional classrooms.
More vocational options on Friday
Because not all children will pursue an academic track, perhaps more vo-tech options for Friday (Northstar has a barista class for instance).
